Opal is building the next generation of access management. We've all felt the pain of not getting the access we need to do our job. At Opal, we’re building a central hub for authorization to make access management automated, intelligent, and easy to use. We are taking an age old problem in enterprise software and making it simple. Our product prioritizes consumer grade simplicity with enterprise scale, reliability, and security. 

Your responsibilities 

• Work closely with leadership, product, and engineering to drive the technical vision and architecture for key features as well as the overall platform

• Help develop and improve engineering best practices and processes

• Develop and ship features with our tech stack: Kubernetes, Golang, Postgres, Redis, GraphQL, TypeScript, and React

• Help drive prioritization and scoping of our technical roadmap

• Mentor and coach other engineers

• Interact directly with customers on product feedback and issues 

Our ideal candidate

• 7+ years of experience (including 2+ years as a Staff+ engineer)

• Experience building 0-1 in early stage startups

• Track record of leading complex technical initiatives to completion (6+ month project time frame, involving multiple engineers and stakeholders) 

• Excited about talking to our users and incorporating their feedback into your work

• Experience building developer tooling and infrastructure at scale

This is a hybrid role based in either New York City or San Francisco.
