Job Description Summary
The Assistant Director of Enterprise Systems supports the Director of Enterprise Systems in all areas of responsibility, both technical and managerial. The Enterprise Systems team is responsible for enterprise application support functions. This includes Enterprise Resource Planning (Workday), Customer Relationship Management (Slate/Raiser’s Edge), and other administrative applications that support the operational efficiencies within the College. As a senior member of the Enterprise Systems team, this position ensures the continued reliability and operation of the Ringling College of Art and Design computing environment. This position will regularly collaborate with other senior members in Institutional Technology to provide an environment that meets the needs of the campus community and enhances the essential services functions of the department.Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Administers the operations, activities, performance, and services of the campus Enterprise Systems and support services.
2. As a member of the Enterprise Systems team:
a. Assists with analysis, design, and deployment of Enterprise Systems solutions.
b. Utilizes system diagnostic, performance monitoring, and maintenance tools.
c. Plans, develops, maintains, monitors, and coordinates the security of Enterprise Systems.
d. Installs and implements both systems and application software on campus servers and in the cloud.
e. Provides senior level client support to the administrative offices on workstations, servers, and other elements of the computing infrastructure.
f. Provides Enterprise Systems infrastructure services, including capacity planning, acquisition, configuration, installation, and troubleshooting of servers running MS Windows with an emphasis on backend server issues.
g. Aligns Enterprise Systems projects with institution’s initiatives and works with key constituents to provide business intelligence through executive reports.
h. Manages, tracks, and documents Enterprise Systems infrastructure assets.
i. Supervises or performs the installation and maintenance of hardware and software, performs upgrade and maintenance procedures, evaluates future needs, and recommends requirements based on growth and scalability concerns.
j. Prepares, maintains, and periodically evaluates comprehensive database backup and disaster recovery plans for Enterprise Systems infrastructure resources.
k. Assists in the establishment of standards, policies, guidelines, and procedures.
l. Prepares, maintains, and updates user manuals, system support manuals, and other types of documentations.
m. Creates, supervises, and performs end user training in the use of Enterprise Systems software packages.
n. Attends conferences and meets with vendors as required to gain knowledge of industry trends.
3. Serves as a member of the Institutional Technology team whose responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
a. Determining the applicability of new technological developments and recommending appropriate usage.
b. Preparing and implementing the IT information technology plan.
c. Recommending purchase of technology hardware and software.
d. Participating and/or providing opportunities for training and professional development.
e. Producing technical documents to record system topologies and security protocols.
f. Assisting in formulating IT policies and procedures.
4. Monitors workflow of the Enterprise Systems team.
5. Performs and/or assigns tasks and projects to team members in consultation with or in the absence of the Director of Enterprise Systems.
6. Oversees and evaluates quality of work. Makes recommendations for employment decisions such as hiring, employee development, discipline, and termination.
7. Evaluates job performance. Performs other duties and implementation of projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge of:
- Enterprise Systems including network operating systems, protocols, architectures, designs, configuration, testing, and repair.
- System security models and methods specifically designed for Enterprise Systems.
- Database Management Systems and reporting platforms.
- Major operating systems including Microsoft Windows solutions.
2. Proven ability to:
- Support enterprise systems on premise, in the cloud (AWS/Azure), and Software as a Service (SaaS).
