American National is seeking an experienced COBOL application developer to join our P&C Admin Systems Department!

Your Impact:

•    Design, code, test, deploy, and maintain efficient and scalable COBOL, DB2 backed applications.
•    Collaborate with business stakeholders to define and understand requirements and translate them into practical streamlined solutions.
•    Review solutions and test results with stakeholders and make modifications as needed.
•    Ensure accurate and complete documentation and collaboratively obtain necessary approvals for code deployment.
•    Analyze and troubleshoot complex technical issues and deliver effective and efficient solutions.
•    Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, ensuring prompt response time and quick issue resolution.

What You Will Need to be Successful in this Role:

•    Bachelor’s degree in technology related field; or equivalent work experience.
•    3-5 years of experience in COBOL programming and development.
•    Strong understanding of mainframe environments and related technologies including JCL, CICS, VSAM, and DB2.
•    Proficient in debugging, performance tuning, and optimizing COBOL applications.
•    Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
•    Effective communication skills with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
•    Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work autonomously while also thriving in collaborative team environments.
•    Fundamental understanding of insurance products, including but not limited to home, auto, life, and the processes to support them is preferred.
•    Certification in COBOL or relevant technologies is a plus.
