Your Specific Responsibilities:
You will provide excellent customer service and provide clerical duties for the immunizations program. This clerk will accurately register clients in FLSHOTS and HMS; scan client identification cards, insurance cards, immunization records and medical documents to client’s HMS record; schedule immunization client appointments; receive and screen incoming phone calls; retrieve and return voicemail calls; make appointment reminder calls; verify and update client’s demographic information in FLSHOTS and HMS; verify and update client’s insurance information in HMS; enter historical immunization records in FLSHOTS; collect payment from clients for services rendered; assist in billing insurances for provided immunizations. This is a challenging position and is critical to our immunization program operation. There is a steep learning curve, even for someone who is familiar with general DOH-Sarasota clerical responsibilities, as familiarity with immunization guidelines and requirements for school entry, and data entry into FL SHOTS and HMS are required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent telephone and in-person customer service skills
- Strong data entry skills
- Excellent assessment skills, including the ability to comprehend complex vaccine schedules and requirements and to evaluate records for the need of required vaccines
- Ability to organize workload to meet deadlines
- Ability to solve problems creatively
- Ability to operate various office machines such as computers, printers, copiers, scanners, etc.
- Skill in medical coding and insurance billing
- Skill in performing all aspects of cashier responsibilities including quoting correct prices, collecting appropriate fees, providing correct change, and accurately preparing deposits
Qualifications:
Minimum –
- Valid Florida driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation
- High School diploma or GED
- English/Spanish bilingualism
- One to three years of clerical work
- College education of 30 semester hours and/or vocational training of 720 classroom hours can be substituted for each year of desired work experience
Preferred –
- Experience with customer service, insurance coverage verification, familiarity with ICD-10 coding, data entry, and scheduling.
