Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position): 

The Printshop Studio Assistant will spend between 1 and 3 hours per week assisting the Printmaking Professor with the maintenance and running of the St. Olaf Printshop. The majority of the work will include regular weekly cleaning and maintenance tasks, though the Studio Assistant may be asked to help with 1-2 larger projects per semester in collaboration with the Printmaking Professor.

Transferable Skills: 

Working independently, art studio management, safe handling of certain chemicals, cleaning, and organizational skills.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Refilling cleaning and solvent bottles
• Managing shop rags safely and efficiently
• Monitoring the levels/inventory of various printmaking supplies
• Maintain cleanliness of surfaces and equipment
• Water printshop plants
• Assist with larger projects (i.e. retaping the ink slabs, restrapping litho scraper bars, etc.)

Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills) 

• Student must have taken Art 226, 227, or both
• Student must be self-motivated and able to work independently
• Student must communicate clearly and promptly
• Student must be detail-oriented
