JOB TITLE:   

Patient Account Representative - Albany Community Health Clinic 

JOB PURPOSE:   

Serve as primary point of contact for patients.  Provide exceptional customer service in response to high volume of incoming calls regarding account status.  Determine compliance with departmental policies and procedures and the Fair Debt Collections Act (FDCPA) and HIPAA regulations.  Position is located in Laramie, WY in the Albany Community Health Clinic.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Provide customer service to all patients and answer questions regarding medial accounts.
  • Explain insurance benefits to patients regarding Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and balances.
  • Collect updated insurance information from patients and notify billing specialist of changes.
  • Assist patients with terms for repayment structures by setting up payment plans.
  • Generate statements for patients.
  • Review rejected statements containing invalid information.  Update said information and resubmit.
  • Review delinquent accounts and submit to collection agency.
  • Enter qualifying accounts into Medicare Bad Debt spreadsheet.
  • Contact patients to inform of overdue balances.
  • Serve as back up for front desk.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: 

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

Education: High School/GED

Experience: 2 years customer service experience in healthcare setting

Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements: 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Experience with a Practice Management system or Accounts Receivables.
  • Experience 2 years of medical office experience- including but not limited to daily account balancing, daily payment posting for patient payments, reconciliation, payment plans, collections review.
  • Experience with a FQHC or RHC clinic.
  • Spreadsheet and Dashboard Development.
  • Creative Problem Solving.
