Custodian and Maintenance Associate

Description

Solterra Academy provides comprehensive special education for students aged 5 to 22 requiring intensive intervention due to severe emotional, behavioral, cognitive, developmental, and/or learning challenges. We believe in fostering a supportive and individualized environment that aids in each student’s growth and development.

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian and Maintenance Associate to ensure the daily cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our school facilities. This role is vital in maintaining a safe and well-kept environment for students, staff, and visitors. Reporting to the Facilities Director, you will perform cleaning tasks, routine maintenance, and support school operations.

Position Type: 12-Month, Full-Time Position
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM

Responsibilities:

Cleaning

• Clean offices, classrooms, and common areas, ensuring a sanitary environment.
• Vacuum carpets daily and shampoo carpets as needed.
• Collect and properly dispose of trash and recyclables.
• Sanitize bathrooms daily and empty/clean refrigerators weekly.
• Maintain and store cleaning tools and equipment.

Maintenance

• Perform routine repairs and servicing of buildings, equipment, and fixtures.
• Strip, wax, and buff hallways when assigned.
• Maintain grounds, including lawn care and snow removal.
• Install partitions, ceiling tiles, and floor coverings.
• Assemble and install new furniture and equipment.
• Change light bulbs and perform minor painting tasks as needed.

Building Support

• Assist with moving and arranging furniture for events and meetings.
• Accept and distribute deliveries.
• Support the set-up and breakdown of stages, chairs, tables, and tents.

Compliance

• Follow Aramark Best Practices for cleaning tasks.
• Safely handle chemicals and follow MSDS guidelines.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; further education preferred
• Experience in carpentry, painting, or automotive repair is a plus

Starting Rate: $17.00+
