The Opportunity
Lesley University is seeking a Men's Head Coach/Athletics Community Liaison. Under the supervision of the Director of Athletics, the Men’s Basketball Head Coach / Athletics Community Liaison will lead the operations, management, coaching and cultivation of a competitive and successful Division III Basketball program while fostering an environment that contributes towards a positive student-athlete experience. Lesley University is an NCAA Division III institution and a member of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) with 14 varsity programs, and over 150 athletes.
The Head Coach/Athletics Community Liaison will lead the planning, management, and coordination of all aspects of the basketball program, including the oversite and hiring of Assistant Coaches. Responsibilities include organizing practices, supporting all relevant recruitment and fundraising activities, and overseeing the academic success of student-athletes. They will maintain proper and appropriate discipline among students during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while off campus. Additionally, The Head Coach/Athletics Community Liaison will oversee the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), facilitating membership and representation among all teams, holding monthly meetings and helping to coordinator events throughout the academic year.
The Head Coach/Athletics Community Liaison must comply with all policies established by federal and state laws, Lesley University, North Atlantic Conference (NAC) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA Division III) policies and procedures. Lesley University is an NCAA Division III institution and a member of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) with 14 varsity programs and a competitive Esports Program, serving over 150 student-athletes.
Qualities and Capabilities
A successful candidate will have:
Bachelor’s Degree required in related field, Master’s Degree preferred
Two or more years of collegiate coaching experience, recruiting experience preferred
Knowledge and solid understanding of NCAA Division III rules and regulations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Teams
Excellent organizational, written and communication skills
Strong interpersonal, time management and managerial skills
Experience with event management and site supervision
Ability to work independently but as an integral part of a team
Requires night and weekend hours and potential overnight travel
Driver’s License required
