Summary of Position
The Clinical Quality Specialist, Pharmacy plays a critical role in managing and overseeing the formulary for Teladoc Health. They will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulatory bodies, both state and federal. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities to meet clinical quality and business objectives, as well as exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Essential Duties:
Manages and oversees pharmacy formulary for Teladoc Health services which encompasses virtual urgent and primary care, behavioral health and dermatology.
Ensure all formularies are compliant with state and federal prescription drug regulations nationwide. Ensures that medication-related systems support compliance with Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and established pharmacy practice standards.
In-depth knowledge of medication safety standards, protocols, and risk mitigation strategies
Create systems and protocols to streamline formulary operations.
Leads and supports pharmacy-related initiatives as a subject matter expert for the department’s senior team of clinicians, quality and patient safety experts, data scientists and clinical informaticists and other departments as necessary.
Proficient in retrieving and analyzing data related to the formulary.
Ensures appropriate testing of all integrated applications has been completed.
Supports the development of policies and procedures related to all aspects of medication use within the organization.
Required Qualifications:
Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy
Registered Pharmacist (State Board of Pharmacy): Licensed to practice pharmacy in one or more US states. Must complete continuing education to maintain licensure.
5+ years clinical experience as a pharmacist in a large care delivery or retail pharmacy setting.
Experience utilizing formulary management systems (e.g., First Databank, Multum).
Experience in managing a wide range of formularies such as ambulatory primary care, behavioral health and dermatology.
Deep understanding of prescribing limitations, DEA schedules, REMS program and formulary compliance across state lines.
Preferred Qualifications:
ASHP accredited Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency Program.
Exemplary technical writing and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of cross-functional stakeholders.
Deep experience in telehealth/virtual care quality and safety in a corporate or health tech start-up environment is highly desired.
Ability to work cross-functionally with diverse clinical and non-clinical stakeholders including physicians, nurses, administrative staff, clinical informatics, data scientists, as well as Product, Commercial, and other business leaders.
The base salary range for this position is $125,000 – $130,000. In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus, equity, and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements) listed here: Teladoc Health Benefits 2025. Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications.
