Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assesses, instructs & prepares patients prior to surgery 
  • Ensures that operative and informed consents are signed and correct 
  • Takes and records vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure 
  • Initiates intravenous lines (IV) and ensures patients are informed about procedure(s) 
  • Assesses patients’ post-operative condition 
  • Monitors vital signs and other measurements of progress, meeting discharge criteria 
  • Logs all findings in patient files 
  • Responds to patient questions and ensures patient comfort 
  • Monitors patients for condition changes, reporting any changes to physician 
  • Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies 

Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Candidate must demonstrate proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills, be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, required.
  • Current Florida state license to practice as a registered nurse, required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience as a registered nurse in an ambulatory surgery or operating room, required. Ophthalmology experience, preferred.
  • Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification, required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, preferred.
