About the RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service
The mission of the RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service is to prepare leaders for the exciting and complex work of creating social impact. We serve graduate students across campus with our programs and courses. Our faculty teach and conduct research on a variety of topics, including: volunteerism, nonprofit leadership, arts and cultural policy, hybrid intelligence, global affairs, and more. Our alumni work at all levels of leadership advancing social causes and delivering high quality programs for their communities. Being located within the LBJ School of Public Affairs also means having access to events and speakers discussing current social and political issues.
Purpose
The RGK Center is seeking a student associate to support communications and events at the Center. The student should be comfortable with email and social media communications to large audiences and have experience developing social media content for a brand or organization. This role also includes supporting planning and logistics tasks for Center events and in-person executive education classes. This position will report to and work closely with the Student Program Manager for the RGK Center.
Responsibilities
1) Communications and Marketing
Develop weekly and quarterly newsletters from the Center (MailChimp)
Collaborate with Content Writer to upload news stories to the RGK Center website
Develop graphics for social media posts as needed
2) Social Media Management
Draft and schedule content for RGK Center’s LinkedIn and Instagram accounts (Hootsuite)
Monitor the Center’s social media channels and engage with followers professionally while representing the University
Track and report social media engagement and follower growth metrics
Collaborate with RGK and LBJ communications staff to develop social media goals/strategy and communications calendar
3) Event and Certificate Support
Support the RGK Center staff in event planning and day-of support for events and certificate classes, as needed. Events may be virtual, hybrid, or in-person and may be hosted on or off-campus. Responsibilities may include: event set-up/tear-down, material preparation, check-in, etc.
Create event pages (Eventbrite) and collaborate with RGK staff to manage attendee lists and communications
Develop physical and digital promotional assets for events (flyers, graphics, etc.) in Canva
4) Other duties as assigned.
