JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of research faculty in Ophthalmology, Research Technician 2 works to better understand the pathology of retinal degenerative diseases using in vitro and in vivo models. This position performs analysis of tissue structure; generation of new databases and mining of existing databases.
- Performs analysis of tissue images for downstream AI analysis.
- Performs annotation of elements in individual images.
- Programs models to analyze images.
- Generates database and mining of existing databases.
- Prepares manuscript.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in one of the Sciences. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: OR a combination of college coursework and work experience to equal four (4) years.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Experience with annotation of tissue sections needed for the creation of a database of optic nerve phenotypes.
- Knowledge of ophthalmic disease and health.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings.
