Position Description:

Experienced cybersecurity engineer with 5-8 or more years of professional working knowledge and background in software development including cybersecurity analysis application design and integration.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Applies software development methodologies, principles, and processes for the design of cybersecurity applications and efficient handling of large-scale data to quickly identify malicious network activity.

• Has experience in the design and development of cybersecurity applications supporting IP, DNS, Mobility 4G/5G Network Cloud, and VoIP including data analysis, automated algorithms, signature processing, and generation of indicators/alerts for detecting threats.

• Collaborates with various teams including project managers for planning and scheduling, systems engineers to identify requirements, architects to develop solutions to meet user requirements and security policies, coordination/integration of system features with software developers and internal/external customers, and operations to identify and resolve production network issues while maintaining high availability of platform services.

• Performs unit testing/verification of developed code, design and review of unit/system test plans, and support in System Test (ST), User Acceptance Test (UAT), and Operations Readiness Test (ORT).

• Performs coding in various advanced programming languages and other web-based tools, and database structured queries for developing customized cybersecurity applications, features, and services based on high-level specifications to support security analyst requirements.

• Implements high-speed data packet processing and parsing decode of essential network protocols as part of cybersecurity applications to generate custom metadata, analytics, and indicators for threat identification.

• Works with system engineers and analysts implementing tools and enhanced features supporting cybersecurity algorithms from proof-of-concept phase to streamlined production state providing high optimization in application performance.

• Develops interactive web-based Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) providing common application management/configuration and displays for custom reports, alerts, and analytics/metrics for threat/network activity.

• Develops flexible Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to support dynamic system interactions and sharing of security data with analysts/external systems to improve Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) methods.

• Implements software build and management processes/tools using automation including source code repositories, code analysis/scanning, ticketing systems, and deployment in accordance with corporate guidelines for Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD).

• Ensures best practices and security compliance as part of general code development, routine static scans, and patching for vulnerability protection.

• Works closely with Test/Tier Support teams and Network Operations on production applications and services to support software release deployments, incorporate key operational procedures, develop/present training overview sessions, and troubleshoot/resolve complex network and customer related issues.

• Provides detailed software application code reviews and documents feature functionality as related to processes, flows, system interfaces, and general maintenance for sharing across teams and reviewing final design methodology for production operational deployment.

• Supports the design/prototyping of platforms and cybersecurity applications for future technology strategies for large-scale distributed network architectures, identifying opportunities for greater cost effectiveness while improving overall system processing capability and efficiency.
