Business Intelligence Data Engineer 

 

As a Business Intelligence Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing accurate, consistent, and secure data sets that support key metrics across our organization. You will leverage your expertise in data warehousing, data structures, and tools to organize data into optimal structures that meet cross-functional and cross-process needs. By developing and maintaining business-driven data pipelines, you will ensure that our data processes are optimized to support key metrics and business decisions. This role requires a problem-solving mindset, a passion for data, and the ability to adapt to changing tools, technologies, and environments. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver insights that drive business results and build strong relationships with stakeholders across Supply Chain Management, Commercial functions, and IT.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Business Intelligence Data Specialist, are to:

 

  • Develop and implement accurate, consistent, and secure data sets supporting key metrics;
  • Leverage strong knowledge of traditional data warehousing, data structures, and tools to organize data into optimal data structures flexible to cross-functional and cross-process needs;
  • Develop and maintain a business-driven data pipeline optimized to business needs, transitioning pipelines to IT when appropriate;
  • Define and deliver innovative data integration solutions by leveraging an understanding of data systems and business processes;
  • Continuously improve data and business-driven data processes supporting key metrics;
  • Support functional and analytics users by simplifying multiple data source queries, preparing and navigating datasets, implementing data quality control, and communicating data issues or gaps;
  • Deliver collaboratively built cross-functional insights by leading small teams to design and deliver maintainable data pipelines;
  • Facilitate the definition of common cross-functional and cross-brand metrics and calculations, incorporating inputs from senior-level stakeholders across Supply Chain Management, Commercial Marketing, and Sales;
  • Build strong working relationships with Supply Chain Management and Commercial function leaders, IT Data Stewards, Data Support Teams, and Global Crop Science COE teams.

 

WHO YOU ARE:

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field;
  • 6+ years of experience working with data (e.g., Finance, Data Warehousing, Data Analytics), with direct experience in the Business Intelligence field;
  • Strong competency in working with data in relational databases using SQL or equivalent;
  • Proven experience defining and delivering metrics in a data architecture to support reporting and analysis;
  • Experience leveraging one or more tools in the Business Intelligence Data Integration space (e.g., Alteryx, Trifacta, Paxata, Informatica, Talend, Ascential), with a preference for Data Prep Tools;
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills in the data arena;
  • High degree of business acumen in relating data to business process drivers and performance management;
  • Very strong communication skills with all levels of business leadership.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Ag Industry and/or supply chain knowledge;
  • Experience leading small project teams;
  • Collaborative, team-focused delivery experience

 

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $109,370.40 - $164,055.60.
