HybridThis position is for a Value Stream professional with deep knowledge and highly developed technical expertise in Program Management, able to manage complex problems in a large program. Develops and implements new processes, standards or operational plans that impact the achievement of results. Develops program plans, schedules, and budgets, and supports strategic planning efforts, contract negotiations, and may manage important vendors.
More specifically, this position supports the Military Avionics and Helicopters - Fighter and Bomber business unit with primary focus on Sensors. General knowledge and awareness of US DOD acquisition processes and the rotary wing community would be beneficial. Individuals are responsible for achievement of strategic goals with respect to customer satisfaction, execution of program deliverables, and business growth and profitability on Sensors products.
Strong candidates should have a technical background in avionics products and systems, with experience leading and managing complex production programs. Knowledge of aerospace sensors products and industry is desired, but not required. The position requires taking a leadership role in frequent interactions with key customer stakeholders and providing cross-functional leadership to coordinate activities across the Collins Aerospace team that includes Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Service and Customer-facing representatives to achieve program commitments and deliverables. Individual travel varies but could include up to 20% of your time.
Preference is for the selected individual to work Onsite at our Burnsville, MN site. Other Avionics locations may be considered for highly qualified candidate.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide program execution expertise with primary focus on Sensors products within the Fighter and Bomber Avionics team
- Lead in the areas of planning, organization and coordination of all functional departments necessary to maintain customer satisfaction and to support execution of program deliverables, including product deliveries, implementation of cost reduction projects, proposal preparation and bid activities for various product lines, and data management
- Ensure adherence to program baselines and serve as the primary customer point of contact in communication of program status
- Maintain responsibility for schedule, performance, cost attainment, sales, and order forecasts, and present proposals, status reports and customer status to leadership
- Exercise technical acuity and an understanding of Sensors equipment, production methods, development processes and support methodologies
- Demonstrate leadership skills across the organization and with customers to meet objectives and satisfy customer requirements
- Build strong and extensive working relationships internally and externally - external customer contacts are typically mid-level program management, engineering, maintenance and procurement agents
- Works closely with all those involved in the Value Stream to ensure that orders, sales, and profit are forecasted correctly and that goals are met
- Execution responsibilities include cost, schedule, technical performance, risk management, product support, manufacturing, and quality of all assigned product lines
- Manage supplier relationships in coordination with Subcontracts Management when necessary, and manage obsolescence to ensure continued production of products
Qualifications/Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR
- Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience OR
- In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
