About the role

Asana’s Data Science team helps us fulfill our mission by informing strategy, defining success, and identifying new ways to deliver user value. We work closely with our product teams to make sure teams are asking the right questions and then find those answers. Data scientists are at the crux of deepening our understanding of our customers and driving stronger business outcomes by leveraging experimentation, causal inference, statistical and machine learning techniques, and data analysis/storytelling. We understand our company’s goals and proactively inform their direction with data so that our product can help more teams do great things.

We’re looking for a strategic leader to head our Adoption & Enterprise data science organization who is passionate about leveraging data to drive product decisions. The Adoption & Enterprise org is focused on user onboarding, team onboarding, purchasing, and expansion for our customers. We are looking for someone who can learn fast, establish direction from ambiguity, understand which details matter, and guide their teams to deliver business results. You’ll play a pivotal role in helping your team elevate their craft, ensuring that they have the right strategy and are solving the right problems with the best solutions in service of our customers and business, while growing and nurturing a healthy data science org.

What you’ll achieve

  • Partner closely with Product Management, Design, and Engineering leaders to set vision and drive strategy
  • Manage a group of data science managers and their teams, empowering them to execute on product vision and roadmaps
  • Implement team practices that empower cross-functional partners to make data-informed decisions, striking a balance between rigorous quantitative methods and speed of decision-making
  • Guide data scientists in their technical and professional development
  • Work closely with recruiting and other data team managers to help grow the team

About you

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, related degree, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of total work experience in data science or an engineering related field, with 5+ years in data management and 2+ years managing data managers
  • Experience managing data science teams solving product problems and driving product strategy
  • Experience working with product design/development at a B2B SaaS company
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; you enjoy figuring out what needs to be done — and then doing it
  • Strong technical background in computer science, statistics, math, information science, or another quantitative field
  • Fluency in at least one modern language useful for statistics and/or data processing (e.g. Python, R, Scala)
  • Proficiency with relational databases and SQ

What we’ll offer

Our comprehensive compensation package plays a big part in how we recognize you for the impact you have on our path to achieving our mission. We believe that compensation should be reflective of the value you create relative to the market value of your role. To ensure pay is fair and not impacted by biases, we're committed to looking at market value which is why we check ourselves and conduct a yearly pay equity audit.

For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $298,000-$403,000.
