Technical Delivery Manager - Up to 225K USD annually

We are looking for an experienced Technical Delivery Manager to oversee our software development teams. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to help shape the growth of Swenson He by utilizing your strong mentorship and technical expertise.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

● Work with Project and Product Managers to ensure development efficiency and requirement satisfaction.

● Proactively plot a clear path from initial commit to finishing touches.

● You will rarely (if ever) need to write code outside of ‘proof of concepts’, ‘emergency scenarios’, or ‘just because you want to’.

o Being able to read and understand code across various languages and frameworks is critical.

● Take input from senior engineers and software architects and augment it with your own experience and current market research to evaluate tools and frameworks to be used in projects.

● Be the ‘go-to’ person when it comes to anything technical.

o If there is a bug, you know why it is happening (or have the chops to figure that out).

o If there is a feature we want to build, you can tell us (generally) how to build it.

● Be a problem solver, you are NEVER blocked.

● Identify creative solutions to remove blockers in the development process, while maintaining overall quality and robustness.

● Manage and coordinate updates to existing code bases.

● Dynamically adjust priorities and acceptance criteria depending on available information at hand, rapidly respond to new information.

● Be accountable and assert your ownership over projects even in a room full of very talented and strong-willed engineers.

● You are a decision-maker and should be able to either back up your decisions with sound reasoning or quickly adapt when shown a better path.

● You know when and how to delegate and are comfortable letting engineers learn by trying/failing tasks themselves.

● You can offer clear and concise guidance to engineers where English may be their second language.

o Diagrams and loom videos are second nature to you (or will become so).

● Offer thought-leadership, expertise and guidance to other engineers including iOS and Android, Frontend, Backend Engineers and QA staff.

● Be able to build and run software yourself so that in you always have a strong grasp on how projects are running.

● Responsible for technical strategy and guidance to our onshore and offshore teams including external development partners.

● Clearly communicate technical details to non-technical stakeholders.

● Ability to work independently with limited guidance or oversight. You will rarely be ‘assigned’ tasks, this position ‘creates’ tasks for others.

Requirements

● Required

o BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent

o 5 + years of experience with engineering (software or otherwise)

o 5 + years of software engineering experience in a technical leading role

o Experience with development processes such as SCRUM, Agile, Extreme Programming, and other iterative approaches

o Expertise with version control systems, specifically Git

o Exceptional communication skills, with a passion for product excellence, web, mobile applications, and mentoring

● Highly Recommended Buzzwords

o AWS technologies (Lambda, DynamoDB, Cognito, IoT Core, CloudFormation, etc.)

o Node.js, Postgres, MongoDB, Swift, Kotlin, React, Angular, MySQL, Firebase, GCP, iOS, Android, Shopify, OpenCV
