About the role

Description

The New Orleans Senior Controls Field Technician at CLX Engineering is responsible for providing outstanding service to our customers. This role, which is salaried and exempt, demands strong to excellent technical troubleshooting abilities, as well as leadership, project management, and customer relationship skills. Reporting directly to the Director, Project Management, this position also involves extensive collaboration with the Manager, Controls Engineering. Our Senior Field Technician often serves as the owner’s authorized representative on site, playing a crucial role in the successful completion of two long-term projects. The incumbent must be capable of making independent decisions and taking decisive actions, in addition to fulfilling various technical duties.


The position may require occasional travel to other sites and to the Sanford, FL office. The position also works in an often dirty hot or cold environments and may require working in tight spaces or stand on their feet all day and climb up and down ladders.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct junior team members, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Manage projects from inception to completion, including coordinating with Integration Engineers and communicating effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with both external clients and internal teams.
  • Utilize extensive knowledge of control systems to troubleshoot issues and perform basic PLC programming independently.
  • Read electrical schematics, produce electrical prints, and create control panels with efficiency and precision.
  • Drive efficiency by providing and executing innovative ideas for control system improvement.
  • Ensure safety practices are always adhered to, including the use of appropriate PPE and awareness of situational dangers.
  • Utilize a range of hand and powered tools, as well as electrical testing devices, proficiently.
  • Demonstrate competence in using common computer software, as well as professional software such as AutoCAD and PLC programming software for troubleshooting.

Requirements

Required & Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or AS Degree with equivalent, applied experience.
  • Extensive experience in controls systems, with a proven ability to work independently and lead a team effectively.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a customer-centric approach.
  • Comfortable working in diverse environments, including airports, entertainment or manufacturing spaces, and internal panel shops.
  • Adaptable to high-pressure situations, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Work in a challenging work environment, walk for hours, and climb ladders.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs.
