Industrial Hygienist Staff Professional

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Industrial Hygienist Staff Professional I with 1 to 4 years of experience with North Carolina asbestos and lead-paint licenses and certifications to join our team in North Carolina. The ideal candidate will support our environmental health and safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and performing field surveys and report writing.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Field Investigations: Conduct comprehensive site assessments, including building inspections and environmental sampling, for asbestos and lead-based paint in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
- Hazardous Material Surveys: Perform thorough surveys to identify, document, and quantify hazardous materials, including asbestos and lead paint, as part of pre-demolition, renovation, or general safety assessments.
- Sample Collection & Analysis: Collect, label, and transport samples of air, water, soil, and building materials to accredited laboratories for detailed analysis. Interpret and communicate laboratory results to stakeholders.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, and local regulations regarding asbestos and lead-based paint management. Update internal and client-facing documentation to reflect compliance requirements.
- Project Management: Assist in planning and overseeing remediation projects, including coordinating with subcontractors, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and monitoring project progress.
- Client Interaction: Provide expert guidance to clients regarding industrial hygiene issues. Prepare and present findings, recommendations, and technical reports in a clear and concise manner.
- Training & Education: Assist in developing and delivering training programs related to asbestos and lead-based paint safety for internal staff and clients. Promote awareness of best practices in industrial hygiene.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare detailed reports, including inspection findings, laboratory results, risk assessments, and recommended actions. Maintain accurate and organized records for all projects.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry best practices, technological advancements, and regulatory changes. Implement improvements in field procedures and protocols as necessary.

- 1 to 4 years of experience in industrial hygiene, asbestos and lead-based paint assessment.
- Valid Asbestos Inspector and Abatement License and Lead-Based Paint Inspector/Risk Assessor Certification in North Carolina.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or a related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, and state-specific regulations pertaining to asbestos and lead-based paint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
Working Conditions
This role requires occasional evening and weekend work, job site visits in outdoor settings, and collaboration in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. Flexibility to travel and stay overnight for certain out-of-town assignments is necessary.
Physical Requirements
In Office Work
The assignment may occasionally require repetitive physical tasks (such as operating a computer), standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time, extended time travelling in a vehicle, and carrying equipment and materials up to 25 pounds.
Field Work
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions to perform fieldwork, including exposure monitoring and site inspections. Physical stamina to perform manual tasks, including lifting, digging, and standing for extended periods. Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly.
