Communications Specialist

Position Overview
The Communications Specialist will be committed to a team process of providing informational and effective content to SECU’s internal and external stakeholders using various communication channels; driven by connecting with people and being inclusive to build the SECU brand and community; tenacious about maximizing outreach potential.
Responsibilities
· Support internal and external communications by creating and publishing content such as for award submissions, fact sheets, memos, newsletters, news releases, reports, websites, scripts, and talking points for SECU and SECU Foundation.
· Lead and support media relations efforts through news releases, media pitches, and events.
· Monitor, analyze, and create reports on performance of content and maintain stakeholder contact lists.
· Work with legal and other SECU teams to ensure content complies with approval processes and SECU writing guidelines.
· Professional development.

News release distribution and monitoring platforms: Meltwater, Burrelles, Digital Media Innovations (Notified)
Required Education
Bachelors in communications, journalism, or marketing
Required Relevant Experience
3-5 years
Required Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
· Highly organized and deadline driven
· Work in an integrated team environment
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Experience with creating publications such as newsletters
· Experience with media monitoring and distribution tools / software, proficiency and advanced experience with Meltwater
· Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
· Experience with Associated Press Stylebook or other writing style guides
Desired Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
· Experience with project management platforms such as Jira or Monday.com
· Experience with creating publications such as newsletters
· Knowledge of digital newsletter publishing platforms
· Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
· Experience with supporting events and photography
· Speak English fluently
Special Position Requirements
· Computer for prolonged periods
· Periodic travel required
