Requisition Summary

This position will be responsible for engineering design, development, and production support within the Liaison Engineering team. Duties include design work required to close current product corrective action PLRs below or at Tollgate 4 level. This position will also support new programs by providing experience in design for manufacturing best practices and lessons learned.

 

The hiring level of this person will be dependent upon related experience, skills, knowledge, and education.  

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Initiate designs of a complex nature and conduct necessary research incidental to design.
  • Complete design projects through the processes of planning, concept development, calculation and design analysis, design, testing, evaluation, and implementation.
  • Manages projects to improve the design of current product based on plant liaison requests.
  • Modifies existing products or designs new parts to prevent manufacturing defects.
  • Utilize Creo Parametric to create optimized part and assembly models of moderate to complex designs requiring independent judgement.
  • Manages supplier activities related to design and manufacture of components.
  • Coordinate and complete projects and design efforts with other engineering groups and departments within the company.
  • Prepare engineering activity status reports and other detailed reporting as directed.
  • Provide design input at all phases of the product development cycle for new programs.
  • Demonstrate professional and successful communication skills (verbal/written) with strong, effective interpersonal abilities.
  • Act in a professional manner in all contacts with external and internal customers.
  • Travel required up to 10%.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in product design. PACCAR/Peterbilt preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage projects and prototypes.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment, while managing multiple priorities is a must.
  • Knowledge of Creo and Windchill functionality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present status updates in front of management teams.
  • Manufacturing plant experience a plus.
