Job Description:

The Office of Sorority and Fraternity Engagement at Iowa State University is currently seeking applicants for a Council and Chapter Operations Senior Assistant Director, which will be classified as a Student Services Specialist III. The mission of the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Engagement at Iowa State University is to create opportunities to enhance the academic success, personal development, and well-being of college students within the sorority and fraternity community. Our office is committed to fostering a values-driven environment where students can thrive academically and cultivate lifelong leadership skills.

This individual will be responsible for a variety of duties including:

  • Assisting in the preparation and management of Office of Sorority and Fraternity Engagement budget.

  • Serving as Assistant Dean/Director’s designee at the discretion and/or absence of the Assistant Dean/Director of Sorority and Fraternity Engagement.

  • Coaching chapter leaders through problem solving and change initiatives.

  • Submitting reports regularly including but not limited to: liaison reports, monthly reports, staff meeting agenda items, scorecard and annual report initiatives.

  • Implementing data-informed improvement efforts to increase academic success, retention, and graduation of sorority and fraternity members in the ISU community.

  • Managing current sorority and fraternity member information including semester enrollment lists, prospective student outreach lists, and academic reports for the sorority and fraternity community.

  • Providing support and related follow up with campus constituencies related to the review of retention rates, cohort comparisons, intervention effectiveness, and university retention initiatives for sorority and fraternity members.

  • Collecting and maintaining academic program related data and program engagement.

  • Providing requested data to division and institutional sources as requested.

  • Developing and implementing assessment tools for member retention.

  • Ensuring ongoing training and development for sorority and fraternity community members.

  • Implementing programs and activities that support the needs of sorority and fraternity community members.

  • Fostering and maintaining effective working relationships with specific internal and external agencies to support service provision to students

  • Serving as a resource person to faculty, staff, and students working with sorority and fraternity programming initiatives.

They will also be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing assessment initiatives for the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Engagement including assessment strategic planning, ongoing program evaluation, and program review.

  • Developing programs, workshops, and facilitator guides for staff and student leaders to further educate the community on recruitment, retention, leadership, and accountability.

  • Exploring new initiatives and resources for solving complex problems related to sororities and fraternities.

  • Collaborating with the Office of Student Conduct to support sorority and fraternity accountability.

  • Managing student leaders responsible for governing council accountability processes.

  • Collaborating with governing councils to provide annual training and expectations.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.

• Applies senior-level professional knowledge and expertise to work requiring greater latitude
• Solves moderately complex problems and regularly exercises judgment to determine appropriate action
• Regularly exercises judgment to resolve problems and determine appropriate action on a broad set of issue and problems. May provide recommendations regarding problems/issues outside the bounds of defined procedures and practices
• Responds to complicated inquiries, provides training, and provides direction to lower-level staff
• May provide supervision for one
