Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is currently seeking two (2) Engineering Technician 3s to support on-site at our Rocket Center, West Virginia location. Rocket Center, WV is located along the North Branch Potomac River in Mineral County, West Virginia and is home to the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory (ABL), a government installation operated by Northrop Grumman. Known for its scenic mountain landscapes, rolling hills and state parks, the region offers a multitude of outdoor recreational opportunities to include hiking, mountain biking, skiing, fishing, hunting and whitewater rafting. Principal Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily operations of analytical instruments to ensure accurate data collection and analysis for research purposes
  • Perform weekly audits of hazardous waste inventory to ensure compliance with safety regulations and accuracy within the designated research area
  • Handle energetic and hazardous materials on a daily basis
  • Ability to cover off shift and weekend operations
  • Operate various computer systems and manage database entries
  • Maintain accurate records of explosive inventory and ensure compliance with established limits across all facility buildings
  • Performs standard analytical test methods and/or mixing operations for quality control, material assessment, or engineering evaluation.
  • Performs mathematical calculations using established formulas.
  • Performs quantitative judgments concerning technical data.
  • Provides technical support across multiple disciplines.
  • Monitor gage, instrument, and equipment calibrations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience
  • Ability to routinely lift 50 pounds
  • Experience working in an analytical lab
  • Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting
  • Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision
  • Proficient in MS office
  • Experience handling energetics, hazardous chemicals, and solvents

Preferred Experience:

  • MS Office tools including Excel, Word
  • Extensive experience handling energetics, hazardous chemicals, and solvents
  • Full understanding of computer control systems, including Solumina and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), to streamline data management and operational efficiency
  • Working knowledge of material sensitivity testing for hazard analysis
  • Particle size analysis of various inert and energetic materials
  • Experience assisting plant maintenance department and off site contractors on analytical tes
