(UES), formerly known as SUMMIT Engineering, Laboratory & Testing, Inc.  As one of the fastest-growing engineering firms in the nation, we’re looking for new talent to grow along with us.     Position Summary:   As the CMT Scheduling Coordinator, you will be the point of contact for the Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Team by providing scheduling and dispatching support as well as assisting the Field Services Supervisor by reporting daily progress from technicians.  This position with work closely with Branch and Regional staff to carry out all necessary duties and responsibilities.  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule and dispatch technicians to project sites based on technician skill set, certifications, location, project and priority while also ensuring they are level loaded
  • Create, maintain and monitor daily schedules for dispatching technicians; making modifications as necessary
  • Proactively review technician vacation schedules to ensure projects are covered
  • Answer the scheduling phone, speak with clients and collect accurate information to create work orders with the Field Services Supervisor
  • Coordinate new hire team leads and mentors to ensure training is successful
  • Assist with truck assignments and loading trucks, to include going over the truck protocol with new hires
  • Communicate daily with CMT leaders, site contractors, technicians, and project managers verbally and electronically
  • Assist with training technicians during inclement weather days
  • Assist with timesheets by reviewing field reports and matching the hours listed on the timesheet with the field reports
  • Ensure field-testing reports are being completed and turned in on a daily basis and review them for accuracy
  • Provide constructive feedback to the Field Services Supervisor regarding how well technicians are doing and what further help may be needed
  • Provide help to the materials testing lab as needed
  • Assist with various administrative tasks
  • Follow all company safety procedures and policies
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years old for entry onto job sites
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Minimum of 1 year prior experience as field/engineering technician, construction materials testing or related experience
  • Prior project administration/coordination/management experience
  • Prior scheduling/dispatching experience
  • Preferred but not required: Active ACI, ICC and/or NCDOT/SCDOT certifications and/or willingness to obtain industry certifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication and ability to use technology/computer
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Excel Spreadsheets and ability to learn proprietary software
  • Ability to enter numbers and data into computer software systems and calculate basic math
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret business documents
  • Ability to carry out instructions given in oral and written form
  • Ability to follow direction from others and complete tasks as assigned
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, detailed reports, short correspondence and memos
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to work under pressure

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Days and hours for this position are typically Monday-Friday with some weekends, holidays and overtime as needed
  • Work setting is mainly in an office atmosphere. There is exposure to a moderate level of noise that could include computers and printers with light traffic throughout.
  • Ability to use your senses to see (including close, distant and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus), smell, hear and touch (use your hands to reach, climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit)
  • Some weekend work may be required
  • Ability to lift and/or move/shake up to 40lbs. (soil and/or concrete tests and related apparatus); frequently lift and/or move up to 60lbs. (soil and sand samples, and nuclear density equipment); and occasionally move more than 100lbs. (such as a loaded wheelbarrow of concrete samples) while in a lab environment
