About the role
TechNexus is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion and changing who is represented in the technology ecosystem by providing more capital, resources, and access to marginalized groups who have been overlooked for far too long. We believe “Everyone means Everyone.” As a part of this commitment, in partnership with dozens of Chicago-based tech companies, we cofounded Chicago Tech Academy a public high schools on the Near West side in 2009.
Chicago Tech Academy partners with iMentor, a national nonprofit, to match every 11th and 12th grade student at ChiTech with a 1-1 volunteer mentor to support them to reach their highest career aspirations. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer mentor at ChiTech Academy through iMentor, you can apply here and we will follow up with your next steps!
If at this time you are unable to make the mentoring commitment but are interested in getting involved in the school community, There are lots of ways to contribute including:
- Speak to students
- Host a field trip
- Host a student intern
- Become a mentor
- Provide a project for Project Based Learning
- Provide pro-bono professional services
- Attend Career Day
- Sponsor an event
