Job Overview:

  • Enthusiastically represents United Parks & Resorts by displaying a positive attitude, maintaining a high level of energy and commitment to quality throughout all aspects of the job.
  • As the Manager, EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) with a focus over Medical Services at the California Parks, you will lead a team of medical staff and leadership.
  • Work in partnership with Medical Director, Corporate Leadership, and Park Leadership to support the overall EHS needs for the California Parks.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises worker’s compensation and general liability case load/ database and coordinates claims with legal and insurance contacts. Also ensures that claims are filed within established timeframes.
  • Manages Worker’s compensation needs across SeaWorld and Sesame Place California.
  • Provide guidance and direction to a team of medical staff including Supervisors, Nurses, EMTs and Paramedics.
  • Develop and manage operating labor and expense budgets along with Worker’s compensation and General Liability budgets.
  • Manage appropriate local, state, and federal reporting of medical needs/injuries, Worker’s Comp, and General Liability.
  • Ensures that OSHA standards and recordkeeping practices are adhered to in compliance with state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Ensures all medical recordkeeping practices are adhered to in compliance with state and federal rules and regulations to include meeting ongoing deadlines throughout the calendar year.
  • Demonstrates the ability to meet strict reporting deadlines; provides updates on pending & completed milestones; and leads others in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Assists with the management of our accident investigation program to include reviewing injury reports and conducting trend analysis.
  • Oversees management of Medical Department Personnel; trains and ensures Ambassadors follow all applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines taking action to correct deficiencies and recognize performance promptly.
  • Responsible for managing ambassador performance oversight of daily tasks, ensuring appropriate ambassador training, providing formal and informal feedback on performance, and making recommendations related to progressive discipline.
  • Responsible for labor management, including but not limited to, establishing and maintaining line schedules, authorizing position requisitions, hiring, monitoring labor expenses in correlation to revenue, and ensuring accuracy of ambassadors' payroll records
  • Assists with scheduling and coordination of contractor and vendor services and inspections.
  • Must be able to perform all job duties/ tasks of positions within scope of supervision and willing to perform tasks when business levels require.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Preferred -Certified Medical Professional (Nurse, EMT, Paramedic
  • Experience with data entry systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Prior experience in managing worker’s compensation and General Liability is a plus.
  • Prior experience leading a team of Medical professionals.
  • Prior experience in the theme park industry is a plus.
  • At least 18 years old.
     

Education:

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience in medical field work (EMT, Nurse, Paramedic), worker’s comp management, or Medical Services Management.
  • Bachelor’s degree with an Environmental, Health, or Safety related major preferred.
     

Competencies:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong problem-solving, and conceptual skills, specifically attention to detail
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and thrive in a cross functional environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information appropriately.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills; able to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.
