Carlin - Senior Metallurgist, Met Labs

Position Description:

Would you like to have a career with a collaborative, divers, and dynamic mining company.  We have an exciting opportunity for you!  Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Senior Metallurgical Engineer for the Metallurgical Laboratories at our Carlin Process operations.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with laboratory and plant personnel and the technical staff along with other outside departments to organize metallurgical test work for the laboratory and report our findings.
• Work on projects through all aspects of experimental design, engineering, forecasting, funding, construction, and commissioning
• Continue to develop automation of data collection
• Provide technical assistance and analysis to process group stakeholders
• Be familiar with strategic business planning and propose process improvements to maximize cash flow
• Analyze metallurgical test work, plant performance and laboratory data and provide recommendations to operational teams
• Work with computers and associated programs like Excel, PowerPoint, Jigsaw, Pi, GoldSim
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or equivalent related degree required
• At least five (5) years experience in metallurgical or chemical engineering role required
• Experience in creating project work orders, organizing and prioritizing work in a laboratory setting highly preferred
• Knowledge of the principles and methods used in metallurgical and processing analysis, have some practical application, and process optimization experience highly preferred
• Ability to research, analyze information and draw conclusions, take action to resolve operational, environmental issues, permit compliance, and problem resolution from an operating plan status required
• Proficiency in multiple software application and network platforms preferred
• Able to learn how to manipulate and analyzing large datasets programmatically required
• Ability to work in an operations focused team environment required
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required
• Proven safety record and ability to support work group in achievements of safety, environmental, and production goals required
• Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this position required
