Position Summary:

This 206,878 square-foot facility, located in the Philadelphia area is Catalent’s global Center of Excellence for Clinical Supply Packaging.  Catalent offers GMP secondary packaging and clinical labeling services throughout our global network. Packaging can be configured to hold a single product, or multiple products as determined by study requirements. We offer manual patient kit assembly along with semi-automated and automated wallet sealing and high-speed automated carding to meet the needs of studies of all sizes.

Catalent Pharma Solutions in Philadelphia, PA is hiring a Junior Buyer/ Materials Planner. The Junior Buyer / Materials Planner supports the tactical purchasing process for all materials bought and services rendered by third parties at the Catalent-Philadelphia site, as well as all end-to-end materials planning activities at the site.  Partnering with site buyers and the Procurement department, the junior buyer-planner will learn, perform, and improve procure-to-pay process activities, partnering cross-functionally with all departments and external suppliers.  Partnering with site planners and Production, the junior buyer-planner will learn, perform, and improve materials planning activities, as well as production planning and scheduling activities for all site value streams (Traditional / FastChain / Commercial).

The Role:

  • Support Sales and Operations planning processes as needed
  • Process purchasing requests within allocated timelines, delivering approved POs to the internal/external customer and supporting any questions / concerns
  • Generating open PO reports, monitoring POs through to release, escalating issues 
  • Evaluate internal customers’ requirements for purchasing accuracy and completeness
  • Communicate specifications, technical drawings and supporting documentation to suppliers.
  • Confirm all purchased materials meet supplier and materials specification requirements
  • Participate in client meetings as needed
  • Maintain supplier relationships & support the monitoring of suppliers through performance metrics
  • Support maintenance and verify adherence to both the approved supplier list and materials specification sheets
  • Support global initiatives, supplier lifecycle management, business reviews, risk identification/mitigation activities, and contract negotiations, as needed
  • Partner with production planning for effective flow of information regarding material and component availability for each value streams projects and jobs
  • Attend supply planning meetings with project management team, identifying material availability issues proactively at project kickoffs and other intervals
  • Analyze supply chain and procurement data (spend, inventory, lead times, supplier performance) to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
  • Maintain and communicate monthly KPI dashboards and reports
  • Monitor inventory levels, slow‑moving and obsolete (SLOB) inventory, and working capital impacts
  • Other duties as assigned
     

The Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree: (Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, etc.)
  • 0+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement, operations, or analytical roles
  • ASCM/APICS, PMP, SixSigma YellowBelt is preferred
  • Strong Knowledge of xGMP regulations and experience working in highly regulated environments is preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data is preferred
  • Proficiency in Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables); experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) is preferred
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is preferred
