Principal Technical Program Manager

The Role

Moderna is expanding our team to further our mission of delivering the greatest possible impact to people through mRNA medicines.  We are looking to hire an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join the Research & Development team.  You will shape and deliver innovative products and services essential for the flawless execution of new mRNA medicine delivery to patients.  Your role will see you partnering with the technology teams supporting clinical operations, trial planning, data management, regulatory, manufacturing, and more.

Here’s What You’ll Do

Technical Program Managers at Moderna are agile delivery leaders that balance business intent with engineering and operational tactical activities, while building and optimizing product delivery schedules.  They utilize dynamic range, technical depth, and agile practices to drive product launches through the entire software development lifecycle; including technical strategy, workstream decomposition, dependency management, and delivery risk mitigation.

• Oversee multiple product launches, leading efforts across the software development lifecycle.

• Foster relationships with software engineers, product managers, and key business stakeholders.

• Streamline delivery schedules to ensure on-time results.

• Uphold quality standards through release protocols and effective incident management.

• Collaborate with Product Managers to translate business needs into technical product requirements.

• Identify and manage dependencies, creating strategic solutions for potential roadblocks.

• Actively participate in budget allocations, capacity planning, product strategy, and risk management to drive efficient resource utilization and alignment with business objectives.

• Provide leadership and architectural knowledge on large cross functional projects.

• Facilitate roadmap development across multiple product engineering teams.

• Work within and across teams to drive consensus on technical requirements to ensure successful delivery of business value.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related fields

• 7+ years of experience in technical roles such as TPM, software development, data science, or bioinformatics

• 3+ years of experience in data-intensive software delivery methodologies, including CI/CD, Agile or Scrum methodologies

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

• A master's degree in computer science, Engineering or Machine Learning.

• Domain expertise in multiple areas such as Security, API integration, application lifecycle management, web application operations, and cloud services.

• Familiarity with biotech industry’s research, manufacturing, clinical and/or regulatory environments.

• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

• Demonstrated success in representing the voice of the customer.

• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

• Working understanding of GxP and computer system validation processes (GAMP).
