The Opportunity

As a Portfolio Management Partner, you will work closely with the Portfolio Vice President (PVP) and other members of the portfolio team (e.g. Client Account Leads) to contribute to the portfolio operations. This includes support with opportunity and account management troubleshooting and escalation, risk management and mitigation, and resource management across the portfolio. The role does not have any direct reports. 

Core Responsibilities

  • Support the PVP and Client Account Leads to conduct long range planning for the portfolio and to prepare annual account plans. 
  • Continuously monitor the USAID forecast and engage VP and CALs to adjust priorities and goals as needed.
  • Support the PVP to prepare the portfolio monthly financial reviews and track action items.
  • Coordinate the CALs in preparing and monitoring account-level annual plans and associated budgets 
  • Lead the planning, budgeting, and monitoring of portfolio account management resources, with a focus on qualification efforts to get to Gate 1.
  • Support the PVP and CALs to develop and implement conference and event strategy aligned with account strategy.
  • Lead portfolio collaboration with Marketing and Communications to identify and generate BD-related communications strategies and products. . 
  • Support development of portfolio communications, including communication cascades of goals, plans, dissemination of company priorities.
  • Organize regular portfolio and “portfolio plus” internal meetings and document and track action items from those meetings. 
  • Ensure portfolio is engaged and interlocked with the appropriate teams during the opportunity lifecycle.
  • Serve as point of contact for portfolio regarding Abt policies and procedures.
  • Work with opportunity teams when additional support or resources are needed to resolve challenges.
  • Liaise with departments on operational, financial, HR, legal or other issues impacting multiple proposals across the portfolio.
  • Liaise with Chief Solutions Organization (CSO) and Chief Growth Office (CGO) as needed on resource needs for technical assistance or other support or opportunity capture and/or proposal development, respectively.
  • Support governance and day-to-day operations of Portfolio unit including regular meetings, deadline reminders, budget development and management, and teambuilding activities.
  • Other tasks as needed to support the successful implementation of the Vice President’s strategy for management of the portfolio. 

What We Value

  • Bachelor’s degree + 9 years of experience, a Master’s degree + 7 years of experience, or a Ph.D. + 4 years of experience.
  • Experience successfully navigating a variety of project management issues. 
  • Ability to create and maintain relationships with portfolio opportunity teams, growth office personnel and other department points of contact. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build new relationships as needed to achieve goals. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Strong oral and written communications skills. 
  • Proven program management skills, including financial, operational and talent management.
  • Deep experience working on USAID-funded programs. 
  • Ability to prioritize issues, determine need for escalation, and consolidate information for quick decision-making.
