As a Senior Service Engineer, you will be responsible to provide advisory services to customers and/or third-party contractors on existing and/or newly acquired equipment and components.

In this role you will

1. Provide assistance for the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repairs of any equipment and components both on-site at customer locations or in manufacturing facility.

2. Carry out service calls on a preventative and reactive basis as required, undertaking service and repair of products and systems to deliver against customers’ requirements.

3. Keep accurate records regarding job progress, delays, problems, deliveries, changes, extras, and engineering and fabrication errors. Technical documentation may include updates to technical processes and procedures, updates to drawings and drawings packages as work is performed or modified in the field, or technical reports and process reviews at customer discretion. Non-technical documentation may include concise service reports and internal reports as necessary or required as part of the scope of work.

4. Communication with internal teams on project status, readiness, and/or issues that are resolved will be required as part of Valmet QHSE.

5. Train customer staff to maintain and repair the equipment, to ensure knowledge is transferred.

6. Conduct audits at customer sites to record and analyze process improvement opportunities.

7. Provide colleagues with guidance on topics of interest and participate in knowledge sharing. Work as a team to provide the highest level of support as a whole and to ensure the team remains unmatched in industry.

8. Works independently to complete given tasks and activities while also providing updates to internal teams when necessary. Role is responsible for solving daily basic technical service issues. Job is mainly performed according to defined processes or work methods.

9. Domestic U.S. travel is required and estimated at 50%.

10. Typical minimum relevant experience required: 7 years, represents the typical entry level position.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience with Maxum Gas Chromatographs, sample conditioning systems (SCS), and/or Continuous Gas Analyzers.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience within the oil & gas or chemical & refining industries.
  • TWIC required. Position participates in drug and alcohol programs with random testing as required by customer base.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and non-verbal).
  • Prior experience developing and maintaining good customer relationships.
  • Knowledge of System Integration projects and understanding of industrial drawings.
  • Must be independent, self-motivated, and maintain ownership culture mindset with minimal direct supervision.
  • Individual must possess a valid U.S. driver's license in good standing.
  • Individual must be at least 21 years of age to participate in the required fleet vehicle program.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Technical AAS or Bachelor Degree from accredited school.
  • 10+ years Industry / Analytical Instrumentation Experience.
  • Extensive technical knowledge in Gas Chromatographs and Sample Systems.
  • System Integration knowledge including alarm systems, electrical wiring, troubleshooting experience. 

To be successful in this role, you must be self-motivated, maintain good communication with customers and colleagues, while showcasing your experience in analytical instrumentation, electronics, and/or instrumentation with a strong work ethic.

This position requires a valid driver’s license.  The position will be primarily in the Texas Gulf Coast region. Qualified Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States.
