Structures MRB Engineering Group Head I in  GAC Savannah


Unique Skills:

 

- MRB Engineering experience at a recognized airframe manufacturer, including having MRB authority granted by an OEM.

- Minimum of (1) year supervisory experience or broad managerial experience.

- Technical experience with primary aircraft structural assemblies in a production and/or schedule driven environment.  Wing / Empennage familiarity preferred. 

- Experience dispositioning supplier discrepancies a plus.

- Demonstrates mature engineering judgment and competence in providing structurally sound resolutions for technical issues that minimize impact to cost and schedule. 

- Ability to quickly assess feasibility and benefits of different repair options and decide preferred approach, often while under pressure.

- Assigns tasks and coordinates repair options with supporting engineering disciplines as appropriate.

- Capable of handling multiple tasks at one time.

- Plans and coordinates MRB Engineering coverage for assigned areas.

- Provides training and guidance for newer MRB Engineers as needed.

- Monitors activities/performance of group and individuals.

- Responsible for performance appraisals; involved with hiring process.

- Familiar with and adheres to Gulfstream Engineering and QA procedures, and provides correct and authoritative interpretation. 

- Serves as an example for leadership qualities such as attitude, teamwork, work habits, punctuality and attendance.

- Strong interpersonal skills a must, with emphasis on customer satisfaction.

- Fosters close working relationship with Operations/QC inspection supervision, and personnel.

- Initiates engineering corrective actions when needed, and works to improve daily processes to enhance the quality, economy, and effectiveness of company products.

- Self-starter and accepts responsibility for delegated special tasks and duties.

 


 

 

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Engineering or related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job. 10 years Engineering experience. 5 years specific technical discipline. Experience credit considered for related advanced degrees limited to 2 yrs with Masters, 4 yrs with PhD in fields applicable to this job. 1 year supervisory or broad managerial responsibility.

Position Purpose:

Supervises a group of engineering employees within a similar discipline responsible for task and objective assignments. Utilizing diversified knowledge and engineering experience, provides direction to subordinate employees, administers performance standards, schedules and budgets.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  1. Develops and evaluates plans for projects and activities; assesses technical feasibility and soundness of proposed analysis, tests, or concepts being applied.
  2. Provides direct supervision of employees of similar expertise for a large project or a number of small projects.
  3. Communicates performance expectations, salary administration, and conducts performance appraisals.
  4. Responsible for establishing and executing objectives that support short term goals.
  5. Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods; represents the organization to resolve important issues and to plan and coordinate work.
  6. Conducts briefings and participates in technical meetings concerning specific projects.
  7. Acts as an advisor to subordinate leads or staff members.
  8. Actively participates in daily operations as required. to meet schedules and resolve issues.

Additional Functions:
  1. May recommend modifications to operating policies. .

Perform other duties as assigned.

  1. The level of managerial skills and abilities appropriate for this grade may be established by each discipline.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills and the ability to gain the cooperation of others.
