Description

The Division of Hematology-Oncology in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Associate or Full Professor positions in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Expertise is required in the specific area of palliative oncology. Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree. Applicants should be board certified or eligible in hospice and palliative medicine.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching palliative care fellows who rotate through the palliative and supportive oncology clinic and have a strong background and interest in education to further the Division's commitment to equip front-line oncology clinicians and oncology trainees with basic palliative care skills in serious illness communication and symptom management. The academic clinician track requires 100 credits per year of active and high-quality teaching.

Clinical responsibilities may include skills with providing ambulatory palliative care consultation for cancer patients in close partnership with each patient's oncology team. The successful candidate will develop and pilot embedded palliative and supportive oncology clinics at the Abramson Cancer Center sites in the greater Philadelphia area. Selected candidates will have opportunities to partner with leadership in the Division of Hematology/Oncology and the Cancer Service Line to lead quality improvement initiatives aimed at improving end-of-life outcomes for cancer patients throughout Penn Medicine. The primary practicing site for this position is at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP).

There will be an expectation of the ability of the candidate to provide management and/or leadership. Rank will be commensurate with experience.
