The Opportunity
Under the general supervision of Senior Scenic Stylist, the Scenic and Brand Production Assistant (internally called Scenic Brand and Provision Assistant) is responsible for developing, producing, and executing specific on-air scenic styling in support of our brand, creating and assisting in the execution of all on air branding and business initiatives accountable for the development of strategies related to our visual/scenic inventory. This role is also responsible to support the TV Production team by providing styling recommendations and executing show specific scenic styling and product displays for our brands. You will be responsible to make decisions regarding efficient repair and maintenance of the visual/scenic assets. Individuals in this position are responsible for making independent decisions that optimize the value of assets, storage, and space.
Your Impact
Ensures that sets are properly styled to support our branding and image. This includes requisition of appropriate props and/or styling needs for certain initiatives.
Partner with Scenic Design team to develop direction, choosing the appropriate props, furniture, and styling needs for specific projects.
Develops overall set style of particular shows turning empty sets into environments appropriate to the brand/product line.
Continually explores new ways of styling product and set that present the product in the best possible way to help maximize sales.
Partner with the TV Production team to determine best-selling position on the set and design actual product placement.
Collaborates with TV Production, Broadcast Operations and Vendors to support business initiatives.
Dresses and styles mannequins, choosing the appropriate apparel and accessories.
Creates “shoot through” displays for specific shows.
Assists in developing camera blocking to maximize on-air look.
Assists in developing Scenic Style Guides and Show & Product Blueprints to support set styling plan.
Develops set mock-ups for new shows and upcoming TSVs.
Designs and develops branding for new product launches and TSVs in cooperation with the Print Shop.
Optimize the value of assets, storage, and space by establishing and communicating and maintaining the scenic asset inventory
Acquisition (confirmation of physical delivery) of new scenic assets (props, furniture and fixtures) and vendor props
Manage scenic asset (prop, furniture and fixture) inventory
Efficiently manage storage spaces by deciding on the most appropriate storage locations for scenic assets and minor set maintenance, including but not limited to daily set walk-throughs\
Responsible for effective repair & maintenance of scenic assets and minor set maintenance. Including but not limited to daily set walk throughs.
Maintain safe operation of storage spaces
What You Bring
3+ years of visual design, interior design or scenic design experience required
HS Diploma or equivalent and or other field or equivalent business experience.
Ability to climb stairs / ladders
Ability to sit, stand, walk and bend for extended periods of time
Ability to lift items weighing approximately up to 50 lbs
Ability to differentiate between colors and textures
Ability to use basic carpentry tools
Ability to flex work schedule as dictated by business needs
Ability to work on elevated surfaces (i.e., lighting rafters, etc.)
