Summary
The Senior Software Quality Engineer is a leader in the software quality assurance function, driving excellence in software validation processes and ensuring all products meet established quality standards. This role involves defining testing strategies, implementing best practices, mentoring team members, and fostering continuous improvement in software quality processes. The Senior Software Quality Engineer collaborates closely with engineering, product management, and operations teams to deliver reliable, high-quality software products.
Position Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical leader for software quality assurance efforts, driving process improvements and ensuring best-in-class software quality.
- Collaborate with engineering, product management, and production teams to define product quality requirements and validation strategies.
- Develop and execute comprehensive software validation plans, including test plans, test cases, and automated testing frameworks.
- Actively participate in testing processes, including test review, analysis, debugging, and software certification to meet quality standards.
- Promote and lead the adoption of tools, frameworks, and techniques to improve testing efficiency, such as automation and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards, such as ISO 9001 or CMMI.
- Provide technical mentorship to software quality team members, enhancing their skills, promoting growth, and fostering collaboration.
- Identify risks and opportunities within software quality processes and develop actionable plans to address them.
- Act as a subject matter expert in software quality, supporting teams in solving complex issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- 8+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with a demonstrated history of technical leadership in software quality processes.
- Experience validating embedded software systems.
- Strong expertise with software testing frameworks, tools, and methodologies (e.g., JIRA, TestNG, Selenium).
- Proficiency in data communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, CAN, USB).
- Demonstrated programming ability in C or other relevant languages.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with a focus on technical mentorship and guidance.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards, such as ISO 9001 or CMMI.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, exercising sound judgment in solving technical challenges.
- Occasionally may be required to travel within the Continental U.S.
Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
- Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments, including CI/CD pipeline integration.
- Advanced degree in computer science, software engineering, or related discipline is preferred.
- Experience with hardware/software integration testing, SIL, and HIL environments is a plus.
- Strong ability to analyze schematics and use tools like logic analyzers for validation purposes.
- Skilled at identifying, communicating, and mitigating technical risks and issues.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Proven ability to drive innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence in software quality practices.
- Uses a forward-thinking approach to explore solutions, adapt to challenges, and promote a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.

Physical Demands
- Ability to work in an office. (Constant).
- Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent).

- U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder), or asylee/refugee status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) required.
