The American Heart Association is thrilled to have an outstanding opportunity for a Program Consultant, Health Care Quality at our National Center office located in Dallas, TX. This position can be home based.

 

This is a full time, benefits eligible, grant funded opportunity. Current funding will expire on March 1, 2027, with the possibility of extension.

 

The Program Consultant, Health Care Quality will be responsible for the implementation of outpatient quality programs aimed at improving care in patients with cardiovascular disease. Responsible for working with multiple sites to educate and motivate improvement in treatment to guidelines, clinical processes and practices. Responsible for communicating project status, and delivering requirements within budget, scope, and timeline. This position will also work closely with several different departments within the national office to ensure success.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of quality improvement projects to help outpatient healthcare providers treat cardiovascular disease in alignment with the organization's guidelines, providing consultation, support, and process mapping to identify improvement opportunities.
• Develop and implement program strategies, serving as the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders for the purposes of comprehensive resource development and education.
• Engage with healthcare providers to ensure best practices and quality improvement for treatment of patients through initiatives including but not limited to: Target: BP, Check. Change. Control. Cholesterol, and Target: Type 2 Diabetes. Implement policy or system changes to ensure the best population health outcomes.
• Work cross-functionally within the organization to identify opportunities for collaboration and synergies to most effectively execute American Heart Association priority initiatives.
• Lead national virtual workgroups for the development of concepts and programmatic opportunities related to outpatient quality improvement.
• Communicate project progress with leadership, manage cross-functional teams, and ensure project deliverables are met according to timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
• 3 years of related work experience.
• Experience in healthcare or public health, including clinical, quality improvement, program development, and systems improvement.
• 3 years of project management experience, including managing budgets, timelines, and communication with team members and stakeholders.
• Skilled in working with clinical audiences to drive change management and improve patient outcomes.
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Understanding of foundational concepts in data storytelling, identifying trends, and clinical quality measures.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively engage with volunteers to increase motivation and participation.
• Willingness to travel approximately 15% of the time, including overnight stays.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification.
• Experience in the outpatient medical field, with a focus on healthcare quality or clinical settings.

Compensation & Benefits
