About the role

The Senior Specialist, Brand Communications, will play a critical role in shaping and amplifying NSF’s brand story. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Brand Communications, this position partners closely with global communications, marketing, and business leaders to develop and execute integrated communications strategies that support NSF’s growth and strengthen its reputation.

This role is ideal for a strategic communicator who thrives at the intersection of storytelling, media relations, and business impact.

  • Develop and execute integrated B2C and B2B public relations strategies that advance NSF’s corporate, brand and divisional priorities across Water, Food and Wellness.
  • Lead external communications initiatives, including proactive media outreach, content development, and brand storytelling.
  • Leverage and expand established relationships with top-tier B2C and B2B media, maintaining strong connections with high-profile outlets.
  • Track, analyze, and report communications KPIs and metrics to demonstrate progress and impact.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to divisional leadership, providing strategic counsel on communications approaches and messaging.
  • Identify and activate opportunities to elevate NSF’s brand and thought leadership among key stakeholders (clients/partners) and consumers.
  • Develop a strategic event and speaking plan, positioning leaders for keynote opportunities and on-stage thought leadership.
  • Partner closely with Marketing and Brand teams to ensure messaging is aligned, consistent, and effective across channels and audiences.
  • Manage and optimize agency relationships to deliver high-quality outcomes on time and within budget.

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field required.
  • 6–8 years of progressive experience in communications or public relations.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills; experience in the TIC industry or a similar regulated environment preferred.
  • Proven expertise in consumer and client-focused PR and communications.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to understand stakeholder needs and deliver mission-aligned solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects from initiation through completion, balancing timelines, budgets, and priorities.
  • Solid business acumen, including the ability to interpret financial indicators and apply business insights to communications strategies.
  • Experience developing and delivering clear, consistent organizational messages across multiple channels.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic environment, demonstrating resilience and responsiveness to evolving business needs.
  • Experience with budget planning, campaign management, and demonstrating ROI.
  • Strong understanding of AP style and newswire distribution services.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to apply communications theory and logic to complex challenges.
  • High ethical standards and a demonstrated commitment to modeling NSF’s core values.
  • Collaborative, globally minded professional who works effectively across geographies and functions.
  • Experience developing and implementing communications strategies.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
