About the role

Overview

The Community Engagement and Campus Resource Specialist (Program Coordinator I) for the USU-Southwest Region will report to the USU-Southwest Director of Student Services and will plan and coordinate the day-to-day fiscal, administrative, and operational activities of community engagement and direct student support activities in the eleven counties in central and southwest Utah (i.e., USU-Southwest). This position may be located in one of the eleven counties in the region (Millard, Juab, Sanpete, Sevier, Wayne, Piute, Beaver, Garfield, Iron, Washington, or Kane County) and requires frequent travel throughout the region.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, coordinates, and implements community engagement activities which may occur on evenings or weekends.
  • Serves as a principal liaison between current USU-Southwest students and the Director of Student Services, and provides direct support services to USU-Southwest students in the eleven counties served by USU-Southwest.
  • Attend region and university meetings and professional development activities related to job responsibilities.
  • Assists in facilitating USU-Southwest leadership and USU-Southwest Center Coordinator meetings that pertain to community engagement and direct delivery of campus resources to current students.
  • Coordinates with USU-Southwest Admissions Specialist to facilitate new applications from community engagement activities.
  • Monitors community engagement expenses.
  • Coordinates with USU-Southwest UMAC support personnel to write, edit, and coordinates development of promotional materials, educational materials, training manuals, newsletters, and/or brochures, as appropriate to the program.
  • Collects and analyzes data; prepare reports; and maintains program records and statistical information.
  • Ensures completion of clerical and administrative support tasks, including creating, typing, and editing program correspondence and purchasing documents, reports, program handbooks, and other publications.
  • May maintain and/or create content for USU-Southwest center websites.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned, including assisting with the day-to-day operations of the region.
  • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Associate degree plus two years of related work experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required.
    • Must be located in Millard, Juab, Sanpete, Sevier, Wayne, Piute, Beaver, Garfield, Iron, Washington, or Kane County.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • A bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of related work experience.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

     

  • Knowledge of research and information gathering methods and procedures.
  • If applicable, knowledge of grant development, implementation, budgeting, fiscal control, and reporting.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.
  • Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Skilled at records maintenance.
  • Ability to lead and train staff and/or students.
  • Ability to interact with students, faculty and/or staff in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques.
  • Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.
  • Program specific knowledge, skills, and abilities as described in recruitment notice.
  • Ability to exercise a high level of creativity, decision making, problem solving, and discretion as work is varied and may be undefined.

    Advertised Salary

    Minimum $45,000; commensurate with experience, plus excellent benefits
