What’s the role?

We are looking for an experienced Accounting professional to join our Controllership team. Are you detail oriented and thrive when working in a collaborative and dynamic environment? If so, this could be an excellent match. As a Senior Accountant, you will support Etsy’s growth by combining strong accounting and business senses while subscribing to Etsy’s mission and values.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Accounting Manager and the base salary range will be $83,000 - 108,000 USD per year. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. 

For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States. You will have the option to work office-based, flex or remotely. Candidates living within commutable distance of the Etsy Brooklyn Hub, or within the San Francisco area, may be the first to be considered.

• The Compensation and benefits Accounting team is responsible for delivering timely, accurate & reliable financial information to both internal & external stakeholders. 
•  We collaborate cross functionally with HR, legal, treasury, strategic finance, consolidations, accounts payable, internal audit and other internal and external teams, creating key partners to keep Etsy a trusted brand and build sustainably support for future growth.

What does the day-to-day look like?

• Have full ownership of US GAAP obligations including month end close, balance sheet reconciliations & reporting requirements for Etsy, Inc.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries related to Etsy’s Payroll and Employee Benefits for Etsy US, Etsy Canada and Etsy Mexico
• Process Payroll payments for Etsy US, Etsy Canada and Etsy Mexico
• Perform all cash reconciliation responsibilities related to payroll, compensation and benefits
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statement flux variance analysis for senior management reporting and SEC team
• Work closely and collaboratively with our business partners including HR, Strategic Finance, Tax, Treasury, AP, Legal and other departments by providing financial insights for budgeting and forecasting decisions, and other relevant reporting
• Support the 10-Q and 10-K reporting process, including preparation of footnotes & disclosures
• Play a key role in audits and SOX testing with internal and external auditors
• Drive continuous improvement and increase efficiency; reengineering processes and controls & implementing global standards

Qualifications

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

• Minimum of 3 years experience in public accounting/fast growing company preferred
• A deep understanding in the preparation of payroll and benefits accounting
• Proven success working independently and following tasks through to completion and meeting commitments and deadlines, while actively seeking support and communicating upwards as necessary
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Exposure to Workday or another ERP system is also preferred
• Outstanding communication skills with the ability to build remote relationships
