 Oyster Bay Animal Hospital is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team! This position plays a vital role in supporting our doctors and technicians while ensuring every pet receives the highest level of care. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves working hands-on with animals, and values teamwork and learning. 

Some of the responsibilities you will own in this role:

• Assist veterinarians and technicians during exams, treatments, and surgical procedures
• Prepare and maintain exam rooms, surgical suites, and treatment areas
• Provide gentle and effective restraint for patients when needed
• Perform basic laboratory tests (cytologies, urinalysis, fecals, etc.) and handle samples properly
• Maintain accurate medical records and assist with client communication
• Ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment for both patients and team members
• Support daily hospital operations with flexibility and a positive attitude

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a veterinary setting preferred (training available for the right candidate)
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
• Compassion for animals and empathy for their owners
• Comfort with handling pets of all sizes and temperaments
• Availability to work flexible hours, including some evenings or weekends
