About the role

Hutchinson Hospital is looking to hire an Environmental Services Aide – to join our – team!  Come join us as a Partner for Good and help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day. 

Position Summary: The Environmental Services Technician provides clean, comfortable, orderly and satisfying environments for the patients, employees, and Park Nicollet community. The Environmental Services Aide (ESA) promotes sanitary conditions which prevent the spread of infections. The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for all cleaning of the facility and routine maintenance of cleaning equipment used.

Work Schedule: FTE 0.4, 16 hours per week, afternoon/evening shifts start at 2 PM running for 8 hours. Weekend rotation of every 3rd weekend.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Assures that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable and attractive manner.
  2. Keeps all areas of the facility maintained by cleaning furniture, bathrooms, patient rooms, waiting rooms, conference rooms, hallways, stairs, elevators, floors, carpets, windows, etc., as well as vacuuming, dusting, and disposing of trash and infectious waste.
  3. Ensures equipment is available for daily work duties and is cleaned and properly stored after use.
  4. Reports burned out light bulbs, spots on ceiling, broken equipment or other findings to Facility Services.
  5. Assures that an adequate supply of housekeeping supplies is maintained in utility/janitorial closets to perform daily tasks.
  6. Assists in training of co-workers and attends service area meetings.
  7. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications: Equivalent to two years of high school. Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment, supplies, computer, and their related uses. Able to communicate; read and understand instructions. Previous experience in housekeeping.

  3. Reports any health/medical errors.
  4. Observes all Environment of Care policies and reports safety risks or hazards immediately.

Education, Training or Degree Required:

  1. Must be able to read, write, make simple calculations, and follow oral and written directions accurately.

License/Registration/Certification Required: (will be primary source verified by HR)

  1. None.

Experience and Skills: (indicate preferred or required)

  1. Knowledge of housekeeping and equipment maintenance is preferred.
  2. Previous experience working as a housekeeper, janitor, or custodian is preferred.
  3. General knowledge of furniture, floor and wall cleaning is required.
  4. Knowledge of sanitation and cleanliness is required.
  5. Accuracy in following written and verbal orders is required.
