Staff Operational Technology Architect

Summary
The Manufacturing Technology and Transfer (MTT) team is a part of Global Operations and has responsibility for the design, development and support of custom and off-the-shelf production manufacturing software and control systems. As an OT Engineer, you will design software-based solutions to automate manufacturing challenges. You will work with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Contract Manufacturers and other engineering groups to design and develop software solutions for new product manufacture and sustain and improve software systems for existing products.
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and roadmap for Operational Technology (OT) at Illumina. Document existing architecture and maintain OT roadmap that leverages industry best practices.
- Lead workshops with departmental process engineers and value stream leaders to gather requirements.
- Design operational technology architecture based upon input provided by process owners and towards industry best practices.
- Define cyber-security requirements for OT and partner with corporate IT security team for implementation.
- Work cross functionally with R&D, Manufacturing and Quality to implement OT for manufacturing new products and improve the manufacture of existing products.
- Provide OT requirements to Capital Equipment Standard for off the shelf or bespoke production process automation tools.
Requirements
- Expert in Operational Technology and Industry 4.0.
- Understanding of IT4OT infrastructure (hosting and network) practices/procedures. Able to define SLA requirements with internal (shared services) and external service providers (vendors)
- Expertise with PLC control systems, Edge computing, Data Historian and SCADA.
- Experience with Wonderware, Ignition and ZNT PAC required.
- Expertise in integrating ISA level 1 and & 2 systems.
- Expertise with OPC UA, MQTT, XML, JSON, SOA.
- Expertise with ISA 95, S88, MESA and NIST standards.
- Experience with GAMP 5 and 21 CFR part 11 and developing in an FDA regulated environment preferred.
- Experience with high volume manufacturing in a high-tech consumables industry and/or semiconductor manufacturing required.
- Work experience in biotech, life science, or medical device field desired
