About This RoleIntersect’s first portfolio of assets has been completed and multiple portfolios in various stages of planning will follow in the coming years with other energy infrastructure and power generating assets. The Market Risk team is hiring a Data Engineer & Analyst, to support the day to day risk management of our operating assets and associated trading activities in addition to building and maintaining risk management tools using Python, Plotly Enterprise, and PowerBI primarily. This role sits within the Middle Office and works closely with the Front Office, playing a key part in shaping how Intersect uses data and reporting to manage market and operational risk across our portfolio.
Team OverviewThe Market Risk team is responsible for measuring, monitoring, and reporting on the market risks facing Intersect through the development, construction, and operation of our portfolios. The team oversees mark to market valuations, value at risk, risk analytics, risk strategy in addition to curating and maintaining data and reporting on a broad array of topics. The team works collaboratively with Front and Back Offices and supports other team’s data and reporting requirements on an as-needed basis.
What You’ll Do
Build and Maintain Data Systems • Leverage Google Cloud environments to design and orchestrate ETL pipelines • Write, optimize, and maintain SQL queries supporting reporting and analytics • Maintain schedules, security, and documentation for data warehouses
Deliver Risk Reporting and Analytics • Build and support Power BI dashboards and reporting tools across multiple teams • Use Plotly Enterprise and Python to create risk management applications and visualizations • Leverage Intersect’s Trade Capture System for reporting and analysis
Enable Cross-Team Collaboration • Partner with trading, software development, and operations teams to design scalable data solutions • Identify, build, and maintain API connections with key applications • Translate business requirements into technical workflows and clear reporting outputs
Ensure Data Governance and Quality • Develop change management procedures for processes impacting operational data • Create and maintain documentation of pipelines, tools, and reporting standards • Manage and guide consultants and service providers supporting Intersect’s data infrastructure
What You’ll Bring
• 3–5 years of experience in U.S. energy markets, ideally with exposure to trading activities • Expert knowledge of Python, BigQuerySQL, object-oriented programming, and Power BI • Experience with Google Cloud environments and modern data team practices • Familiarity with business analysis, requirements gathering, data modeling, warehousing, and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) • Undergraduate degree in computer science or a related technical field or equivalent experience • Exposure to Trade Capture or Enterprise Trading and Risk Management Systems preferred • Working knowledge of Plotly Enterprise is an asset • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearlyTotal RewardsAt Intersect, we support your well-being, growth, and balance with a comprehensive rewards package:
