About the role
Description
CareLink is searching for a full-time (30-40 hours per week) Medical Office Assistant. This position will be located primarily in our East Providence office with some local travel to assist doctors providing mobile healthcare services.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Answering and directing phone calls, greeting visitors and patients, creating appointments, and handling all queries
- Informing the Doctors, clinical staff, and member sites of impending appointments
- Supporting and maintaining the EMR filing system for all patient documents and reports submitted
- Collaborates with CareLink stakeholders to establish schedules and plans that allocate available resources to best serve client or customer needs.
- Answering emails and other electronic messages as required
- Assist with processing patient billing
- Perform file system and database management
- Assist with scheduling meetings
- Handle faxes and mail
- Prepare reports, invoices and memos
- Supports and assists Providers by preparing equipment, traveling, and assisting in patient care as needed
- Maintains medical supplies inventory and performs preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operating.
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit.
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; and keeping patient information confidential.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities
- 1+ year of professional office experience
- Valid driver's license
- Extremely proficient with technology, seen as expert and ability to train others
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Understanding of the business of a medical practice.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations pertaining to patient confidentiality and dissemination of information.
Qualifications – Preferred
- 1+ year of professional experience in a medical office
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), CNA, or Dental Assistant
- Experience with EMR (electronic medical records), medical terminology, and coding
