Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Quality Engineer to join our dynamic Composites Fabrication Quality team in Berkeley, MO!

This position requires a Bachelor of Science from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

Position Responsibilities:

  • Represents Quality function on team activities to integrate contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements into all aspects of proposals and program processes and documentation.
  • Analyzes non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Assess engineering requirements and specification and provide Quality interpretation of requirements.
  • Develops quality metrics, design and production certification plans for small programs to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements.
  • Reviews and interprets complex Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T) requirements
  • Compiles performance reports and other statistical data to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved.
  • Create, revise and maintain inspection programs for digital inspection (Machine Probing, Laser Trackers, Romer Arm, etc.)
  • Create and integrate standard programming work and new inspection techniques that promote consistent reliability and process improvement.
  • Uses 3D modeling software to convert 3D models to an inspection template using GDT features.
  • Participates in various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs.
  • Review engineering specification/requirements to identify the primary inspection method to be used by Quality Inspectors to perform product acceptance.
  • Performs analysis, tests and process audits to ensure manufacturing and test readiness.
  • Recommends corrective actions to address non-conformances.
  • Performs bench-marking and other forms of analysis to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved.
  • Works under general supervision.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Experience working with AS9100 and/or similar QMS standard
  • 2 + years of experience in Computer Aided Design (CAD), utilizing model-based definition (Catia V5 or later versions)
  • 2 + years of experience with Numerical Control (NC) programming and/or programming Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM)
  • 2+ years of experience collecting, organizing, and analyzing data; summarizing findings; developing conclusions
  • 2 + years of experience conducting Inspections using ASME Standards for Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T)
  • 2 + years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications (e.g., blueprint/schematic reading, change, design)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working in a parts fabrication environment.
  • Experience operating/working with digital inspection tools (Experience working with AS9100 and/or similar QMS standard
  • Experience in conducting Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) complex technical issues/processes and implementing corrective actions
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems through diverse approaches
  • Experience with drawing, reading and interpreting Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T)
