This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As part of a hard-working and accomplished team you will develop, lead and implement coordinated tests and operations for various spaceflight systems. You will work across subsystems and support coordinated solutions to achieve our vision of “millions of people living and working in space.” You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of developing tests plans and procedures for vehicle operations, verifying vehicle design and function, archiving test data to support vehicle verification and developing test equipment and GSE. This role is a combination of test and operations development, planning and documentation, hands-on running tests and troubleshooting/data analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a Vehicle Test Leads by establishing and carrying out test development engineering activities in accordance with Blue Origin standards and practices to complete tasks assigned including:
  • Working with the design and systems engineers to plan tests of the vehicle subsystems, ensuring the tests are crafted to verify the pertinent requirements
  • Developing test methods to efficiently complete coordinated system testing
  • Supporting development testing to reduce program risk
  • Developing procedures and software automation that will be used in launch operations
  • Developing, procuring and fielding ground support equipment
  • Writing test procedures and managing procedural redlines and updates during test campaigns
  • Implementing safety policies during test planning and operations
  • Solving issues that come up during testing
  • Reducing, analyzing and archiving test data to support verification tasks
  • Mentor other test engineers

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering
  • 5+ years of current technical hands-on experience in:
  • Experience developing, writing and updating test procedures
  • Strong technical writing and interpersonal skills
  • Hands-on experience with hazardous testing with a strong safety record
  • Experience leading test teams as a Test Conductor or Test Engineer
  • Strong focus on test safety
  • Experience with formal verification and certification processes
  • 5+ years of current technical hands-on experience in at least one subject area of: Fluids, Thermal, Propulsion, Avionics or electrical hardware and/or software, Structures, Ground Operations, Flight and/or Ground Autonomy..

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing or operating pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems and electronics/control systems
  • Experience designing or operating cryogenic systems, including liquid oxygen systems
  • Familiarity with typical aerospace vehicle pressure system and structure manufacturing technologies
  • Some experience in system engineering practices formal or informal


 

Compensation Range for:

CO applicants is $74,537.00 - $104,351.10 WA applicants is $81,313.00 - $113,837.85
