About the Role:

We’re looking for a Senior User Researcher to deeply understand users needs, in our two sided marketplace, and advocate for those needs across multiple areas of our business. This role will work on a variety of projects—from generative research to identify foundational customer needs—to evaluative research to identify optimal feature and design solutions.

This role sits on the Product Design and Research Team, but you’ll work with a variety of stakeholders across Design, Product, Data, Operations and Marketing. As such, the scope and impact of your work will be broad. You’ll work on projects that affect both the Demand and Supply sides of our Marketplace. Projects may range from user experience research (i.e., foundational research, design research, and usability studies)—to market research to understand customer needs and gaps in the market.

What You’ll Work On:

  • Identify, lead, and execute end-to-end strategic and tactical research. Answer exploratory and foundational questions—in addition to tactical and evaluative questions that help the team identify optimal concepts and designs, and test the usability of those designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to frame, scope, and execute on research questions. Educate stakeholders about the research process and pros and cons of different methods when needed
  • Reporting—create engaging research deliverables that encourage stakeholders to act on findings. Transform user and consumer findings from “here’s what people said...” into actionable insights for the business. Proactively socialize findings.
  • Craft a Research Roadmap based on knowledge gaps and business priorities in collaboration with the Director of Design, Senior UX Researcher, and stakeholders
  • Partner with the Data Team to conduct data analysis. In particular, this role will identify what data analysis should be done in order to answer the research question(s). You’ll then partner with the data team who will lead the analysis.

What you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Work with Design, Product, & Marketing teams to answer a wide variety of research questions— from strategic to tactical.
  • Analyze and synthesize research findings and various types of data to create clear and actionable recommendations
  • Guide, mentor, and coach product designers in conducting their own evaluative design research.

Your Areas of Expertise:

  • 4-5 years of experience as a researcher
  • Mixed Methods researcher: experience with qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research. Comfortable with a wide range of methods commonly used in UX and consumer research—from in-depth interviews, to survey design and analysis, to concept tests and usability tests
