🔍 Position Overview
A collections field technician safely visits customer properties, delivers service disconnection notices, or executes meter cut-offs and restorations while maintaining customer relations and regulatory compliance.
What You’ll Do
- Service Disconnection: Turn off natural gas services safely when accounts remain unpaid past the final notice deadline.
- Service Restoration: Turn gas meters back on and light pilot lights after customers pay past-due balances.
- Meter Verification: Inspect utility meters for signs of tampering, theft of service, or unauthorized usage.
- Customer Communication: Explain billing disputes, payment options, and company policies calmly and professionally.
- Safety Compliance: Follow strict safety rules when handling gas lines, wearing protective gear, and working in various weather conditions.
- Follow strict safety protocols and federal and local regulations.
- Communicate professionally with homeowners and members of the public.
Work Outdoors & Stay Active
This role is ideal for individuals who prefer being active rather than sitting behind a desk. You will:
- Walk approximately 4–7 miles per day
- Bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds
- Work in a variety of weather conditions
- Remain on your feet for extended periods
Operate Specialized Equipment
You will use industry-leading gas detection technology to identify potential leaks. Heath provides comprehensive paid training and certifications to ensure you are fully prepared and confident in the field.
📋 Job Requirements
Required
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
• Ability to pass a DOT drug screen and background check
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop on varying terrain, and to lift heavy items
• Ability to walk 4–7 miles per day in all weather conditions
• Strong reliability and accountability
• Proficient using technology (smartphone, tablet)
• Ability to use simple hand tools
• Ability to read and understand utility maps
• Works well within a group as well as individually
Preferred — But Not Required
• Customer service experience
• No industry experience necessary — we value work ethic, dependability, and a safety-first mindset
