POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting in the assessment of present state and leading and supporting the implementation of a standardized program to meet all strategy and associated tactics to meet all regulatory, accreditation, and Tenet Health-assigned programs for sterile processing services.  Tactics Actions include but are not limited to; a) assurance of quality water systems, b) adherence to standards for patient-care equipment and instrument collection, decontamination, cleaning, assembly, disinfection and/or sterilization as well as product distribution and storage, and c) sterile processing equipment preventative maintenance standards. 

 

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILLS

Confirm that sterile processing services are provided according to established performance expectations, and in compliance with: relevant regulatory and accreditation standards, and Tenet established workflows, and work product standards

Collaborate with Facilities Maintenance Department to:

• Establish sterilizing equipment inventory for each Tenet/USPI site. 
• Develop and implement quality water system and operation functions.
• Establish a preventive maintenance program for Sterile Processing equipment.
• Establish sterilizing equipment inventory for each Tenet/USPI site.
• Validate implementation of established education curriculum and assessment tools and methods for onboarding and continued education of sterile processing employees
• Monitor quality metrics, methods to measure metrics, data reporting, conclusions, and actions for improvement of sterile processing processes.  Develop a centralized record of assets and performance measures.
• Provide guidance on accreditation and regulatory communications and assist in the development of plans, when necessary. 
• Serves as subject matter expert to facilities regarding sterile processing practice specific to operations, cost, quality, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide educational presentations to all levels of Tenet team members.
• Provides on -going and effective communication with physicians, hospital/clinic department management, staff, and vendors’ representatives.
• Works closely with Tenet’s corporate office, market, and facility leaders. 
• Prepare written reports regarding performance, capital needs, justifications for spend, and 5-year capital plans.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, or Healthcare Administration. 
• Leadership Certification (e.g., NEA, NEA-BC, CSM, CHL)
• Practice Certification in one of the following: (e.g., CNOR, CIS/CST, CRCST)
• 3-5 years of varied and complex surgical experience
• 3-5 years of progressive and proven management accountability in a complex surgical environment
• Demonstrates proficient knowledge of sterile processing and current practice; AORN standards for sterile processing, AMII sterilization guidelines, TJC and OSHA compliance.
• Strong Organizational skills as well as written skills

Compensation

• Pay:  $120,016.00-$191.568.00 annually. Compensation depends on location, qualifications, and experience. 
• Position may be eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan bonus of 10%-25% depending on role level. 
• Management level positions may be eligible for sign-on and relocation bonuses.
