About the role
We are Progress (Nasdaq: PRGS) - the trusted provider of software that enables our customers to develop, deploy and manage responsible, AI-powered applications and experiences with agility and ease. The VP of Product is the primary product owner for ShareFile, accountable for overall product vision, strategy, execution, and market success. Provides strategic leadership for a global organization of ~150 employees across the United States and India, including Product Management, Engineering and User Experience (UX) functions for the ShareFile product line. Leads a multi-layered organizational structure including VP, Senior Directors, Directors, Senior Managers, and Managers, as a part of the Digital Experience business unit at Progress. ShareFile is a recently acquired, very high-profile product line, making up a significant portion of Progress’ overall revenue. This is a newly created role, put in place to support ShareFile’s growth. This role will be a hybrid role so working between your home office and our Raleigh NC office. Candidates must be local to this location for consideration. In this role, you will:
Strategic Leadership & Vision:
- Accountable for definition and execution of the long-term product vision, roadmap, and investment strategy, ensuring alignment with customer needs and company priorities.
- Makes critical decisions on product portfolio trade-offs, resource allocation, and innovation bets, balancing short- and long-term priorities.
- Partners with executive business unit leadership to drive strategic direction for the business unit and investment priorities.
Business & Product Ownership:
- Responsible for driving business outcomes including revenue growth, profitability, product adoption, and customer satisfaction in the ShareFile product line.
- Oversees end-to-end Product Management, User Experience, and Engineering functions to deliver cohesive, innovative, and competitive offerings.
- Accountable for product lifecycle management—from ideation and validation to delivery, scaling, and sunset decisions.
Operational Excellence:
- Establishes organizational structures, governance, and operating models to optimize efficiency, accountability, and scalability in the Engineering practice, and across Product Management and UX.
- Manages significant budgets and global delivery models, ensuring effective coordination across time zones, distributed teams, and diverse cultures.
- Creates and enforces standards for product quality, user experience, and engineering excellence, with measurable outcomes.
Innovation & Transformation:
- Champions adoption of modern SDLC practices, AI-enabled development, and data-driven decision making to accelerate speed-to-market.
- Drives customer-centric innovation through market intelligence, competitive analysis, and direct engagement with key customers and partners.
- Leads transformation initiatives to scale product and engineering functions in alignment with business growth and evolving market needs.
Leadership & Talent Development:
- Directs multiple layers of leadership, ensuring talent pipelines, succession planning, and leadership bench strength.
- Coaches senior leaders to improve managerial capability, organizational effectiveness, and employee engagement.
- Promotes a high-performance, inclusive culture where innovation, accountability, and collaboration thrive.
Governance & Risk Management:
- Drives, data security, and operational resilience across product development activities.
- Identifies and mitigates operational, market, and technical risks.
- Leads M&A integration activities related to product and technology
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Acts as executive sponsor for major customer accounts and strategic partnerships, influencing renewal and expansion opportunities.
- Drives strong collaboration with Sales, Marketing and Customer Experience teams, creating a unified and coherent strategy across Product and GTM functions.
- Establishes KPIs and OKRs for product, engineering, and UX functions; ensures visibility of progress to executive leadership.
- Regularly presents to C-suite executives on product performance, innovation pipeline, and organizational health.
- Represents the company externally at industry forums, analyst briefings, and customer advisory boards.
Your background:
- 15+ years of experience in Product Management and Engineering for enterprise software companies, with at least 7+ years at a senior/executive leadership level.
- Proven track record as the product owner of a major product line or portfolio, accountable for vision, roadmap, performance, and customer outcomes.
